PHP that is clean, current and dependable.
For businesses whose software must run on ordinary hosting and keep running for a decade. ATPL’s longest-running system, Ethos reporting, is PHP, and the team writes it the modern way: typed, tested, on supported versions.

When we choose it, and when we don’t
The honest version
No stack is right for every job. This is the test ATPL applies before recommending it.
We choose PHP when
- The host is fixed: shared hosting, cPanel, a client’s existing LAMP server. PHP runs there without a build pipeline or a Node process to keep alive.
- An existing PHP system needs extending rather than replacing. Ethos central reporting has run on PHP and MySQL since 2014, and ATPL maintains client code of the same vintage.
- The job is a small, specific back end: a form handler, a payment callback, a report, a WordPress plugin. Core PHP with no framework is the lightest way to ship it.
We don’t when
- A new large application. Start it in Laravel, which is PHP with the structure already decided.
- Real-time features with many open connections; PHP’s request-per-process model is the wrong shape, and Node.js fits.
- Code on PHP 5 or 7 that nobody will fund upgrading. ATPL will not add features to unsupported versions without bringing them current first.

FAQ
The questions asked before buying, answered plainly. If yours is not here, ask it on the contact page.
Yes. PHP 8 is a typed, fast language, and it still runs most of the web, including WordPress and the Laravel ecosystem. ATPL writes PHP on supported versions with strict types and tests, and its own Ethos reporting platform has run on PHP and MySQL since 2014.
PHP is better when the application is forms, records and reports on conventional hosting; Node.js is better when it is real-time or shares code with a JavaScript front end. ATPL uses both. The deciding questions are where it will be hosted and who will maintain it, not which language is newer.
Yes. ATPL upgrades PHP 5 and 7 code to a supported PHP 8 release: a review first, then dependency and syntax fixes, then a test pass on a staging server before the switch. Unsupported PHP versions no longer receive security patches, so the upgrade is usually the first job.
ATPL prices PHP work per project from a written scope. Small jobs such as a form, an integration or a report are fixed-price; larger applications are quoted by module. Hosting cost stays low because PHP runs on shared and VPS hosting without extra services. Send the requirement and a quote follows.
